The19th July is Changing Places Awareness Day to promote the life changing difference a Changing Places toilet can make. Over 1/4 million people in the UK require a fully accessible changing / toileting facility to enable them to get out and about and enjoy day-to-day activities and public venues. Many public places only offer standard accessible toilets - excluding those with learning disabilities, or physical disabilities who rely or carers or extra equipment and space to use a bathroom safely and comfortably.
Changing Places toilet increases a venue’s accessibility by providing:
A height adjustable, adult sized changing bench
A ceiling track hoist system
Adequate space for user and two assistants
A centrally located toilet with space both sides for assistance
A privacy screen
Wide paper roll
A large waste disposal bin
A washbasin, preferably height adjustable
If you want any help & advice on how to provide a Changing Place facility or equipment for a space you want to make more accessible please get in touch with us at info@simplymovingandsleeping.co.uk, we’d be happy to offer any advice.
